Grade 8 students at Collège des Frères – Bethlehem took part in a series of environmental activities in cooperation with the Young Women’s Christian Association for Development – Bethlehem and the Italian organisation CESVI, strengthening their understanding of solid waste management, reuse and recycling.

The activities included an awareness session on responsible waste management and sound environmental practices, followed by a practical workshop in which students transformed discarded wood into planting boxes. They painted and prepared the boxes, then planted sage, thyme, rosemary and mallow, combining teamwork and creativity with care for the environment.

The activities form part of an environmental awareness campaign led by the Young Women’s Christian Association for Development – Bethlehem under the Tadweer project, implemented by CESVI with funding from the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation. The project promotes the five Rs (5Rs) and encourages sustainable environmental practices by connecting knowledge with practical action.

We thank our partners for their cooperation and our students for their enthusiasm and efforts in giving discarded materials a new purpose and bringing more greenery to their school environment.
