Students at Collège des Frères – Bethlehem are celebrating Lasallian Month 2026 through a drawing competition and classroom activities that bring the values of peace, love, fraternity and respect to life.
Organised to mark Lasallian Month and the International Lasallian Days for Peace, under the theme “Peace… Piece by Piece: Building a Fraternal World,” the initiative encourages students to share their ideas through art and reflect on how their individual and collective efforts can help build a more caring community.
Stories, drawing and music in the classroom
Led by art teacher Tali Nassar, activities for Grades One, Two and Three combined storytelling, drawing and music. Students listened to stories exploring values such as love, peace, humility, fraternity, friendship and respect, then discussed the characters and expressed their own understanding through drawings.
Listening to and singing the De La Salle hymn while drawing added a shared musical dimension to the lessons. The artwork was completed in class so that every child could participate without the additional burden of a task to finish at home. Drawings were then collected for review, with selected pieces to be entered in the Lasallian Month competition.
A creative response across the school
Students in Cycle Two were also introduced to the competition and its values through age-appropriate explanations, helping them choose ideas and develop their artistic responses. The submitted works show a variety of approaches to peace, friendship, cooperation and respect.
The competition has received many drawings, with the strongest participation coming from Cycles One and Two. A selection of works will be chosen for display as part of the competition activities, giving students an opportunity to share their creativity with the school community.
By connecting stories, visual art and music, the initiative gives children practical ways to explore the Lasallian mission and express their thoughts and feelings. Their work highlights the role of the arts in helping students experience values through everyday learning and relationships.
